HOW TECHNOLOGY HAS CHANGED EDUCATION

The education of a nation’s youth to a full height of academic rigor and standing is a complex process that nearly always spans more than a decade, requires tens of thousands of dollars, dozens of teachers, and of course, technology. Not always the most recent technology, mind you, but even the oldest Pentium One computer was once new.
Technology inside of education is a somewhat problematic premise, an idea that generates controversy from the earliest of primary school grades right through to the top of the academic pyramid, graduate school. As you well know, technology can be a powerful tool for learning, and it can be the same for cheating. It can be used to inform, and to distort. It can boldly open new doors, while flinging open some that were perhaps best left closed; not every topic is appropriate for all age groups.

Collaboration

Collaboration is becoming a real-time event. While this topic applies mostly today at the collegiate level, it will surely seep backwards down the grade scale to reach younger students. This has the impact that you might guess, increased productivity, but it has a host of secondary benefits that most students do not recognize until they complete their first project in such an environment.

Instant Research

Ask anyone over the age of 50 with a PhD what it was like to get the information that they needed and they will generally begin to swear and discuss how young people these days have it so soft.
They are not merely being curmudgeon-esque (well perhaps a few) but on the whole they have a point: nearly every fact is no more than a few taps of the keys from anyone, making the accretion of information, well, child’s play. What does this mean? It has been speculated that this will lead to a decline of respect for intellectuals, but that seems unlikely. Knowing how to search for something is merely the first step to real comprehension, which involves a deeper understanding and critical analysis. On the whole, intellectualism and its pursuits will always command respect.

Cheating

Nothing is free. Everything has a cost. While technology, as we have just seen, can have very positive effects it can also have some very negative impacts. Things such as cheating are now simpler than ever, and I don’t mean writing on your hand. Your class is allowed to use a graphing calculator for the test? Write a program on it that contains all the formulas that you need and presto, you pass the test. Chance of being caught? Zero.

Focus

Finally, and to wrap up, it may be said that for all the technology we put in the classroom all we do is distract children from actually learning. Are we showing children blinking lights instead of books and so forth? The complaint should be formed into a question: is there a way to employ new technology intelligently avoiding its pitfalls while reaping its rewards? Yes, by having strong and smart teachers who can use the tools that technology offers without falling on their sharp ends.
Technology is changing our world, and we have to understand the implications of its use for our children’s education. Education is affected by technology in a very real way, however the timeless goals of education should be respected.

THE BOTTOM LINE TECHNOLOGY HAS HAD SEVERAL CHANGES AND THESE HAVE INFLUENCE IN EDUCATION BUT NOT ALL OF THESE CHANGES HAVE BEEN POSITIVE. ALSO NOT ALL PEOPLE HAVE ENOUGH RESOURCES TO BE ABLE TO GIVE KIDS A GOOD EDUCATION RESOURCE BASED TECHNOLOGY. TEACHERS BY YOU SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL FOCUS ON LEARNING OF S STUDENTS, AND THEY THINK THAT WITH THE HELP OF ALL THIS TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS AND NOT WORRY FOR A WAY TO EXPLAIN MOTIVATE THEIR ESUDENTS.

LANGUAGE ACQUISITION: HOW CHILDREN ACQUIRE LANGUAGE.

HOW CHILDREN ACQUIRE LANGUAGE.

He first word of a child is an unforgettable moment for parents, as it represents an important step in evolution in its development. However, before expressing themselves through language, go through different stages that can be summarized into three: cries, gestures and babbles. In addition, develop some perceptual and vocal abilities that will culminate with the arrival of this long awaited moment.
The ability to speak is for all human beings, but to develop it is necessary to have a biological, physical and psychological appropriate addition to possessing skills to interact with the environment. According to Dr. Rosa Gil, center specializing in education, 'RV Alfa', "a fundamental factor for its development is the audition."
Step by step get the first word Language learning is the result of the interaction between the ability of a child to talk and their relationship to the surrounding environment. This power need not be at a particular age. According to Dr. Gil, "Every child is different, but at 2 years for example has begun to speak should come to the pediatrician, since it is normal to do about 12 or 13 months of age."
First, a newborn baby pays attention to what people say about him: he hears his father, his brothers, but especially his mother, who called his attention by crying. The next circle of people will help the child learn to speak naturally, so we must speak clearly, with sentences short and concise and call things by their right name.
After the crying, the baby begins to make small babbling. It is the stage where not only listen but also tries to mimic the intonations he hears. Look carefully at the lips of the speaker and began to utter sounds like 'g', 'ajo'y' um '. In addition, it begins to perform coordinated movements with the mouth and jaw to combine different vowels and consonants. According to the doctor, "to 7 or 8 months made a game for pleasure oral, will be from that period when we can detect a problem."
Parents should encourage our son telling stories, looking at his face while talking, singing, etc. With all this, we will help continue the learning process perfected, it will include new sounds and recognize new tones and inflections. After reaching the year speaks a word, understanding what it says and sometimes helping gestures to be understood. According to the expert, "children understand before you speak, and associate the word with an event or person, until they finish developing single words and then words, sentences that contain no verb at first."
Seamless communication For a child to develop their communication skills is necessary to encourage various skills and abilities. First, intersubjectivity, an ability to convey the mental state allows and to rule that no neurological problem that can affect speech. On the other hand there is the intention, that shows what motivates us to do or say something and realize why. Also we found the implementation of interactive routines, which consist of activities that are repeated more or less continuous habit forming. We must also worry about reciprocity, which is that communication is a two way process in which one emits a message and the other responds. In the case of babies, if a child cries, the mother says taking her in his arms because he is communicating that something happens.
Regarding the development of hearing, according to Dr. Gil, "to 7 or 8 months is not tell the difference between a child who hears perfectly and the other does not." Finally, we make games. The hands in particular, promote language development, as the motor of the hands and speech are very close areas in the brain. All your senses are developed with the laughter and the rhymes of these games.
Something of special interest that the specialist says is that "women who have had difficult births are at greater risk of having children with speech problems." Therefore, if we observe that our children do not follow a normal development, we should see a specialist to rule out the possibility of experiencing hearing problems, developmental delay or neurological problems.

ADD

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or AD/HD or ADD) is a neurobehavioral developmental disorder. It is primarily characterized by "the co-existence of attentional problems and hyperactivity, with each behavior occurring infrequently alone" and symptoms starting before seven years of age.
ADHD is the most commonly studied and diagnosed psychiatric disorder in children, affecting about 3 to 5 percent of children globally and diagnosed in about 2 to 16 percent of school aged children. It is a chronic disorder with 30 to 50 percent of those individuals diagnosed in childhood continuing to have symptoms into adulthood. Adolescents and adults with ADHD tend to develop coping mechanisms to compensate for some or all of their impairments. It is estimated that 4.7 percent of American adults live with ADHD.
ADHD is diagnosed two to four times more frequently in boys than in girls, though studies suggest this discrepancy may be partially due to subjective bias of referring teachers. ADHD management usually involves some combination of medications, behavior modifications, lifestyle changes, and counseling. Its symptoms can be difficult to differentiate from other disorders, increasing the likelihood that the diagnosis of ADHD will be missed. Additionally, most clinicians have not received formal training in the assessment and treatment of ADHD, particularly in adult patients.
ADHD and its diagnosis and treatment have been considered controversial since the 1970s.The controversies have involved clinicians, teachers, policymakers, parents and the media. Topics include the actuality of the disorder, its causes, and the use of stimulant medications in its treatment. Most healthcare providers accept that ADHD is a genuine disorder with debate in the scientific community centering mainly around how it is diagnosed and treated. The American Medical Association concluded in 1998 that the diagnostic criteria for ADHD are based on extensive research and, if applied appropriately, lead to the diagnosis with high reliability.

Classification

ADHD may be seen as one or more continuous traits found normally throughout the general population. It is a developmental disorder in which certain traits such as impulse control lag in development. Using magnetic resonance imaging A diagnosis of ADHD does not, however, imply a neurological disease. ADHD is classified as a disruptive behavior disorder along with oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder and antisocial disorder. of the prefrontal cortex, this developmental lag has been estimated to range from 3 to 5 years.

Predominantly inattentive type symptoms may include:
  • Be easily distracted, miss details, forget things, and frequently switch from one activity to another
  • Have difficulty maintaining focus on one task
  • Become bored with a task after only a few minutes, unless doing something enjoyable
  • Have difficulty focusing attention on organizing and completing a task or learning something new or trouble completing or turning in homework assignments, often losing things (e.g., pencils, toys, assignments) needed to complete tasks or activities
  • Not seem to listen when spoken to
  • Daydream, become easily confused, and move slowly
  • Have difficulty processing information as quickly and accurately as others
  • Struggle to follow instructions.
Predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type symptoms may include:
  • Fidget and squirm in their seats
  • Talk nonstop
  • Dash around, touching or playing with anything and everything in sight
  • Have trouble sitting still during dinner, school, and story time
  • Be constantly in motion
  • Have difficulty doing quiet tasks or activities.
and also these manifestations primarily of impulsivity:
  • Be very impatient
  • Blurt out inappropriate comments, show their emotions without restraint, and act without regard for consequences
  • Have difficulty waiting for things they want or waiting their turns in games
Most people exhibit some of these behaviors, but not to the degree where such behaviors significantly interfere with a person's work, relationships, or studies. The core impairments are consistent even in different cultural contexts.
Symptoms may persist into adulthood for up to half of children diagnosed with ADHD. Estimating this is difficult as there are no official diagnostic criteria for ADHD in adults.ADHD in adults remains a clinical diagnosis. The signs and symptoms may differ from those during childhood and adolescence due to the adaptive processes and avoidance mechanisms learned during the process of socialisation.
A 2009 study found that children with ADHD move around a lot because it helps them stay alert enough to complete challenging tasks.

Cause

The specific causes of ADHD are not known. There are, however, a number of factors that may contribute to, or exacerbate ADHD. They include genetics, diet and the social and physical environments.

USEFUL ELCTRONIC GADGETS FOR THE CLASSROOM

Gadgets in the Classroom

Pen and paper still seems to be the preferred way for Rice students to record notes from class, but electronic gadgets are becoming more and more ubiquitous. Here are a few portable devices you may encounter in the classroom:
  • Laptops & Tablet PCs
Many students use laptops to take notes nowadays, and Tablet PCs are becoming popular as well. A Tablet PC is essentially a notebook computer with the keyboard, mouse, and monitor replaced by a touch screen for writing and computing with a stylus. Tablet PCs allow students to easily incorporate notes and files from several classes onto one portable device.
  • Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)
PDAs offer a variety of organizational tools, such as a clock, a date book, an address book, a task list, a memo pad, and a calculator, in a small hand-held device. PDAs also allow the user to synchronize data with other computers and usually include versions of popular word processing, spreadsheet, and web brower software. Many accessories, such as full keyboards, can be used to enhance their functionality.
  • Smart Phones
A new generation of phones combines standard cell-phone fare with the basic tools and connectivity offered by PDAs. By integrating a full keyboard into a phone, these devices allow a user to record notes, keep a schedule, write emails and surf the Web.
  • Digital Audio Players & Recorders
Digital recorders are available both as stand-alone devices and as accessories for digital audio players, such as Apple's hot-selling iPod. Duke University pioneered this application by giving a new iPod (along with a recorder) to all of their incoming students and encouraging them to bring them to class and record lectures.
  • Digital Video
Four Rice classrooms are equipped with Capture Classroom, a groundbreaking system that allows lectures to be recorded and saved to the Internet, where they are available for high quality stream or download. The system also incorporates images of what is on the professor's computer screen.

HOW TECHNOLOGY HAS CHANGED MY LIFE

Over the years the technology has been advancing step by step, because with the passage of time man has invented various tools that have improved our lives. One of the great benefits we have obtained through the internet technology, but sometimes the information you find is wrong, however, has its advantages, and that through the internet we can communicate with many people around the world. But this would not be possible, but we had a computer that is an indispensable tool for the use of people, because through it we can make use of various computer programs. Also the creation of mobile phones has brought us many benefits and that this means of communication helps us to communicate with others, whether in our country or to other countries and increasingly the technology is giving more and more new styles of mobile phones I imagine that soon to impersonate computers.
